25 reasons to go vegan:
- 1. Animals are sentient life
- 2. Animals do not want to die - thus, killing them for food is murder
- 3. Animals cannot consent to being killed or used for food
- 4. Animal agriculture spreads disease - COVID, Ebola, Spanish Flu, Black Plague, etc., all have origins in animal agriculture
- 5. Animal agriculture is bad for the planet. It creates massive amounts of emissions, it is extremely land, resource and labor intensive, etc.
- 6. You can survive without consuming animals or animal products. Humans are omnivores, not obligate carnivores
- 7. Eating meat the way humans do now isn't "natural." There is nothing natural about going to Walmart or Mcdonalds and buying chunks of mutilated flesh wrapped in plastic
- 8. If you care about your dog, your cat, or any other pet, why do you have a double standard for other animals? Many animals, such as pigs, are more intelligent than average as compared to dogs, but it is socially unacceptable to eat dogs because they have been elevated to the status of "man's best friend"
- 9. You can be healthy without consuming animals or animal products
- 10. The pleasurable sensation of eating meat is a few seconds of temporary pleasure
- 11. Vegan diets are very affordable - you can easily survive off of whole foods such as fresh produce, canned foods such as beans and other vegetables, rice, etc.
- 12. Vegan food can taste good. People usually only think meat tastes good because of the seasoning/preparation
- 13. Factory farming is not only expoitative to animals, but also to the workers who work in dangerous, trauma-inducing, disease-ridden, filthy environments for very little pay
- 14. Humans are in no way inherently superior to any other form of life. Human intelligence doesn't equate to superiority. If that were the case, why wouldn't we eat mentally disabled people?
- 15. Because humans are in no way superior to any other form of life, the difference between eating humans (cannibalism) and eating animals is a totally arbitrary social construct
- 16. Many animal products, particularly red meat, cause cancer
- 17. There is no justification for consuming animal products outside of selfish, temporary sensory pleasure reasons
- 18. It's foolish to live in cognitive dissonance, to pretend you are not connected to the suffering of the animal on your plate - you are the consumer, you create the demand
- 19. All scientific evidence points to plants not bein a form of sentient life - thus, killing them results in no pain or suffering
- 20. Consuming animal products is only normalized because of widespread ignorance of the reality of animal agriculture
- 21. Even small-scale animal agriculture is unnecessary. The majority of the world's soybeans are grown to feed livestock (another example of the waste and inefficiency of animal agriculture). Why couldn't this be fed to humans instead?
- 22. The amount of meat and other animal products consumed today is unparalleled in any period of human history up until very recently. Before widespread adoption of factory farming, meat was a luxury item reserved for special occasions
- 23. Animal agriculture causes widespread suffering on a scale that is truly incomprehensible. Millions of lives are brought into the world every year, every day, only for them to be tortured, raped, mutilated and murdered. This process is repeated over and over again as the insatiable bloodlust of humans demands more meat
- 24. Dairy is built upon raping cows (or goats, or any other dairy animal) repeatedly, denying their children the milk they naturally produce (as they only produce this milk in sufficient quantity while pregnant and after childbirth), and keeping them as slaves until they are murdered as they fail to produce enough milk to be profitable
- 25. You can go to sleep with a clean conscious at night knowing the blood is at least in some way off of your hands
